As a parent there are some things that I am truly passionate about and probably the most important subject is my daughter’s safety and comfort while she is in the car. That is why when it comes to what car seat I am going to use for my little bug it is something that I need to feel very confident about……Yes, I do not take this lightly. And when Safety 1st gave me the opportunity to sample their Complete Air Convertible Car Seat with Air Protect Side Impact Technology I was more than willing to try the car seat!
The Complete Air Convertible Car Seat with Air Protect Side Impact Technology from Safety 1st has been designed to protect your child’s head in case of a side crash. The car seat which was really easy to set up and is really lightweight compared to other brands, seems to be really comfortable which is also a very important feature for a car seat.
The placement of Air Protect Technology on the car seat diverts crash forces away from a child’s head, the most vulnerable place in a side impact crash. The simple description to the Air Protect technology is that the car seat has the unique feature of two specially design pillows ( one on each side) that is attached to the inside of the car seat right where the little one’s head rests . The “pillows” had been designed to protect your baby’s head by minimizing the force of an impact. I hope I never have to put this to a test, but I am certainly grateful of this feature in case of an accident.
Safety First explains that this is possible Through the precise release of air, Air Protect shields children from side impact intrusion and immediately reduces crash forces at the most critical spot: around a child’s head.
The safety 1st Air Convertible Car Seat with Air Protect Side Impact Technology can be can be used for rear- facing infants from 5-40 lbs (19 to 41”) and once they can face forward from 22-50 lbs (34 to 45”), which is a great range. I had to change the car seat I had for the ladybug soon after she was big enough to seat face forward. And if we consider that the bug is about 37 months old and barely weighs 34 pounds, I will probably be able to use this car seat until she is ready for a booster seat.
The timing for receiving the Air Protect Car Seat couldn’t have been better. The ladybug had been taking her arms out of the safety belts, and we kept adjusting them and making them tight so she couldn’t do this any longer, but then she will complaint that the belts were hurting her…..Which had me looking over my shoulders every two minutes to make sure that she had her arms inside the belts ……Not the ideal situation when you are driving. I have not had this problem with the Air Protect. The belts are set up so she can’t get out, but it doesn’t hurt her either.
The air pillows on the side of the car seat are adjustable to five different heights which is another very convenient feature that allows you to use the car seat as your little one grows up. Not only does it work great for us, it is also very stylish.
The car seat was very easy to install even though our car is an older model 2001 Durango that does not have the tether latch system that new cars now have.
