Fotolia The Best Image Resource - Review and Giveaway.

As a blogger I am always looking for different resources and images are a big and important part of blogging…..I usually prefer using professional images instead of my own….Just because I am really far from being a professional photographer, so you will imagine how excited I was when Fotolia contacted me and asked me if I was interested in reviewing their service…That was an immediate yes!
Introduction Definition of Fotolia in Wikipedia (The Free Encyclopedia)
Fotolia is the first worldwide social marketplace for royalty free stock images, allowing individuals and professionals to legally buy and share stock images and illustrations.
Fotolia offers the largest image bank of free and affordable royalty free photos and illustrations perfect for any medium, web or print.
Photographers and designers constantly update Fotolia with thousands of new photos and illustrations each day, while photographers and designers receive commission from each photo sold and revenue from advertising on the free section.
Overview
Similar to the music or film industry, Fotolia believes that every artist's (photographers and designers) image is a work of the soul and protected by intellectual property rights.
Fotolia is convinced that the principle reason for illegal pirated use of protected images is mainly due to the high price barrier created by other agencies.
Fotolia provides a compromise between photographers and buyers, by protecting a photographer's intellectual property rights and offering high commissions, while legally lowering the price barrier so that everyone may enjoy/afford these beautiful images.
Fotolia challenges the traditional closed agency model by offering the opportunity to monetize their talents to everyone, hobbyist or professional, whatever their fame, status, or size of portfolio may be.
Thanks to the collaborative online model, Fotolia is able to offer individuals and professionals (advertising agencies, press, small business, graphic artists, designers) the greatest image collection in the world for free or as little as $0.75.
I had the chance to use a month Fotolia subscription….The service is really easy to use and the images are even easier to download and save to your computer. The selection of high quality images is simply amazing and it is impossible to go through all of them. With my subscription I was allowed to download 5 images every 15 hours. If you go over that time without downloading the images you are still only allowed to download your 5 images (I think that was special subscription for the review as minimum downloads they offer is 25), for example if you go 2 days with no downloads, you will only be able to download 5 images, so keep that in mind if you have this type of subscriptions.
Some of the images are only available to purchase through credits….But there are so many images to choose from, that is really not a big deal.
I have used some of the images from Fotolia and edited as needed to some of my recent posts (see images on this post)
Even though I did not downloaded any of their videos Fotolia now offers: 164,346 video clips in .mov, .avi, .wmv and flv formats. All video files offered on Fotolia are Royalty free and they can be used for all kinds of professional documents with no time or distribution limitation.
