Britax FRONTIER 85 SICT Car Seat- Review and Giveaway

The ladybug started Pre- Kindergarten last  month, so I wanted to get in a booster seat because they are easier to get the little ones in and out of. Even though I wanted something that would make my life easier, I was not willing to sacrifice my little bug’s safety. Now, there is something you might or might not know, but according to Florida laws, it is not mandatory that children over 3 years old still sit in a car seat. Now I do not know about you, but I don’t have my daughter in a car seat only because it is the law. Obviously that is a great reason, but certainly not the only one. I also have my little girl in a car seat because it is safer and it allows me to protect the most important cargo in my car.
So just because it is ok with the law to have my four year old out of a car seat, it doesn’t mean I will do something that I feel is not in the best interest of my little bug, after all in other states it is mandatory to have the kids in the car seat until they are a lot older than 3! I don’t think I am over protective….Just cautious!
There are many car seats out there, but not all of them are what I would use for my daughter, so I always do my homework before getting a car seat, and research the best options I have, and there is one brand that is on top of my list: Britax.
I have owned different Britax car seats for the different Baby stages and loved each one of them and was really happy when I had the chance to try one of Britax latest products, the FRONTIER 85 SICT. The very first thing I will say about the car seat is that it is wide and very comfortable…Actually comfy is the word the ladybug used for it the minute she tried it.
One of my favorite features on the FRONTIER 85 SICT is the Side Impact Cushion Technology that features energy-absorbing cushions on the exterior of the car seat to reduce side impact crash energy by 45% by diverting crash forces away from your kids and providing extra protection for the adjacent passenger. In addition to this great feature, the FRONTIER 85 SICT, also offers True Side Impact Protection which is a head restraint that offers an extra layer of energy-absorbing EPP foam, keeping the head, neck and spine “in true” or aligned, and deep side walls lined with EPP foam to distribute crash forces, shield from vehicle intrusion, and contain the head, neck and body. The FRONTIER 85 features an 85-pound Five-Point Harness Seat Capacity which allows your child to remain harnessed to up to 85 lbs or in booster mode to 120 lbs….The ladybug is 38 lbs. Right now, so this will have her covered for as long as she need a car seat.
The FRONTIER 85 SICT has the Energy-Absorbing Versa-Tether® technology which features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat. This same feature is present in our old car seat the Britax Marathon 70 and I love this feature so much that it was one of the first things I was looking for on the next car seat for the ladybug. In addition the FRONTIER 85 SICT also features a Tangle Free, Five-Point Harness with 10 harness height positions (up to 20") and three buckle positions for a snug and secure fit as your child grows. The Harness Ultra Guard System (HUGS™) provides resistance to forward movement in the event of a crash, Compatible with SecureGuard which works with the vehicle safety belt in booster mode to prevent the child from sliding under the lap-belt portion of the safety belt during impact, thus minimizing the risk of abdominal injury (accessory sold separately). Energy-Absorbing Foam Liner (EPS) absorbs and distributes crash forces, Energy-Absorbing Base deforms in the event of a crash to absorb impact forces, High Density Comfort Foam provides an extra layer of padding to gently cushion your child….I can’t tell you how many times the ladybug has mentioned how comfy her car seat is….She wanted her little cousins to try it because they were going to love it. She also loves the pads on the shoulder straps that make it even more comfortable and for some reason she loves the fact that the car seat has two cup holders! The arms rest also helps to improve the comfort level on the car seat.
The car seat is pretty wide, so if you have a small sized car, you might want to look into that before buying the car seat. The FRONTIER 85 SICT has another great feature which is the Easy-Remove Cover. This allows easy cleaning without disassembling or uninstalling the car seat….Taking the cover off, is a breeze and can be done in no time. So if you have a need to clean your car seat, you can just take the cover off when you get home and wash it. Then just bring it with you when you are ready to get in the car the next time and put it back on. LOVE it! One more feature DH and I really like about the car seat is how easy it is to adjust the harness shoulder height without disassembling the harness straps, really convenient.
Among the many great features on this car seat you will find a Color-Coded Vehicle Belt Guides that indicate the path and positioning of the vehicle lap and shoulder seat belt. The harness-2-Booster also converts to a belt-positioning booster seat. The car seat is Certified for Aircraft Travel in Harness Mode and it is made in the USA with global components. The FRONTIER 85 SICT retails for $339 and it is available in three different colors. This wonderful car seat can be found in the Britax website and selected retailers across the US and Canada.
