On November 5-6, Bank of America is helping its customers get a dose of culture with Museums on Us, giving bank cardholders free admission to some of the most exciting cultural venues across the United States.
As part of Museums on Us, more than 150 leading U.S. cultural institutions, in 87 cities across the country, open their doors to bank cardholders on the first full weekend of each month. Participating institutions include museums, historical sites, botanical gardens, science centers and zoos.
Museums on Us – a national program that will enter into its 15th season in January – includes the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, OH, Dallas Museum of Art in TX, New York Aquarium in New York, NY and EdVenture Children’s Museum in Columbia, SC.
The offer is valid the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of each month. Photo ID and a valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card must be presented. One free general admission limited to cardholder at participating institution, excluding fundraising events, special exhibitions and ticketed shows. Not to be combined with other offers.

Quite impressive don’t you agree? I was introduced to the brand not long ago and was offered the opportunity to do a review on one of their products. If you have ever visited their site, then you will know they have a really wide product selection which includes the Closer to Nature Line and I was very interested in trying a product from this line.
I had the chance to try the Closer to Nature Electric Steam Clean sterilizer. A good bottle sterilizer is very important, especially in the first months when your baby is more vulnerable. So the bottle sterilizer is a very important tool for a new mom. There are a few different things I look for when shopping for a sterilizer. First of all, I look at capacity…..With a new baby, things get very busy, so a sterilizer that allows you to do a bigger load is a nice thing to have. With my old sterilizer I could sterilize four bottles at a time, the Closer to Nature Electric Steam Clean sterilizer allows you to sterilize up to six Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles, teats and dome tops at the same time.
The sterilizer features a sleek oval shape, but what I really like about the unit is how easy to operate it is….Just add the recommended water measure to the base of the unit, place the bottle and accessories load, place the lid and press the start button. You can keep your bottle sterilized for up to 24 hours if left inside the unit.
The Closer to Nature Electric Steam Clean sterilizer is BPA free which is one of the features I look for in baby products .The unit comes with 2 - 5fl. Oz/ 150ml that shows both measurements for even more convenience with nipple for 0m+ babies. It also comes with a nipple tong and a formula dispenser. While I am not currently bottle feeding, I have used the sterilizer a few times for the review purpose and have not had any issues with it. The lid fits tight for better steam conservation and the sterilizer is great for places with reduced space as you can keep a full load of bottles inside the unit and keep it organized and sterilized at the same time. One nice thing about the Tommee Tippee bottles is that they have a 4 dot line designating 80ml on the bottle which can be used to accurately measure the water you need for this sanitizer. After a 5 minute runtime, everything is sanitized and ready to go.
The thing that I love the most about this unit, is that according to Tommee Tippee, it allows you to kill Kills 99.9% of germs while using no chemicals and harmful products for your baby. The sterilizer features a storage underneath the unit to keep the power cable when not in use.

Born 2 Impress Everything Home Event -Jack LaLane Power Juicer Express Review and Giveaway.

As you all know I am trying to lose weight and getting healthier along the way. For a while now I have been very interested in juicers, not only as a way to lose weight, but actually as a way to drink natural homemade recipes that are not only nutritional and delicious, but 100% natural! As part of the Everything Home Event, I am very excited to bring you a review of the Jack LaLane Power Juicer Express.

The Power Juicer Express is one of the four different designs offered in Jack’s store…..I have always believe that in order to purchase a juicer I would have to spend at least 200-300 dollars, but this juicer design is only 100.00 which you can pay in 3 payments of 33.33, making healthy affordable.

Setting up the juicer is very simple, but you want to make sure the different components are locked in the correct position or the juicer will not start thanks to the Built-In Safety Features on the juicer. Another plus is that this unit is meant for kitchens with limited space as the unit is fairly compact.

The Juicer Express features an Extra-Large Round Chute that accommodates most fruits and vegetables so you hardly have to do any precuts….Actually the most I’ve done is to cut apples in half before placing them in the juicer. Please note that the “pusher” which is the piece you use to push the fruits and veggies in the juicer has a flat part that matches a flat part in the feeding tube and if not in the correct position the pusher will not fit properly.

The juicer also features Surgical-Quality Stainless Steel Blades that makes the juicing process a breeze. It works so effectively that with some fruits the juice starts to come out of the spout even before I have the chance to use the pusher. The machine has a High Performance 3,600 RPM Induction Motor with a lifetime warranty that powers up the unit.

The juicer is very quiet when in use and very easy to take apart for cleaning, and the parts are dishwasher safe.

The juicer comes with a recipe book and thanks to it I discovered how many different recipes I can actually make with my juicer and believe me it is a lot more than super delicious juices and smoothies….Did you know you can actually use the pulp from your juices to make muffins, bread, cakes, pan cakes…..And the list keeps going! The pulp you can collect is really big, so I do not have to worry about over filling it while using the juicer and you can freeze the pulp to use later when you need it. The book gives you tips and guide lines that have been a life saver for me, the novice.

A couple of tips…when cleaning the juicer components, make sure you use a soft sponge rather than the green scratchy part on the Scotch Brite sponges as the silver part that is inside the pulp collector can become easily scratched as it is plastic with a silver paint coating. You do get a great value for your money and I have to say I love the juicer and recipes I can create with it and this is one of the few picks that I wanted to double feature and add it to the Holiday Gift Guide as this would make a really nice present.

Halloween is just around the corner and goblins, ghost, princesses and all kinds of monsters and mystical creatures will be trick or treating! We usually go my sister-in-law’s house and get all the kids together to go trick or treating….. A condo is not the ideal place to do it, so we spend the evening with them and the little ones loves it.

Scholastic has managed to come up with a really cute selection of Halloween not so scary stories that kids will love this Halloween. The Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVD “Teeny Tiny and the Witch Woman... and more Spooky Halloween Stories.”
This not-so-scary DVD for kids ages 4 to 9 features five animated stories based on best-selling children’s picture books, including one “Spanglish” one called Los Gatos Black on Halloween, ( The black cats in Halloween) featuring narration by actress Maria Conchita Alonso…..You might remember her for her roles Moscow on the Hudson with Robin Williams, and also starred in movies like The Running Man, Predator 2, The House of the Spirits, Vampire's Kiss, Colors… plus a bonus feature interview with author Marisa Montes! This I must add was a personal favorite.
Among the titles in the DVD, you’ll find TEENY-TINY AND THE WITCH WOMAN, which was the ladybug’s favorite, a scary story about a boy who is able to trick an old witch-woman before she can cook him and his brothers for dinner…. The Read-Along feature on all Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVDs is what makes this DVD part of my favorite DVD collection, especially now that the ladybug is in school and trying to spell every single word she sees.

FARBERWARE has recently launched three new small kitchen appliances that combine modern technology with Farberware quality, timeless craftsmanship and refined style: 12-Cup Programmable Coffee & Tea Maker; 10-Speed Blender with Pre-Programmed Settings; 12-Cup Food Processor with 4-Cup Nested Workbowl. I was given the opportunity to try the 12-Cup Programmable Coffee and Tea Maker, which came in at the right time for me as my coffee maker decided to stop working just a few days ago, so I substituted my 200.00 coffee maker for the FARBERWARE 12-Cup Programmable Coffee & Tea Maker. My only concern was that I usually only drink one cup of coffee a day, so I was afraid that I would be wasting a lot of coffee, the reality is that you can make a great tasting single cup of coffee as easily as you can make a bigger pot which also comes in handy when you have people over and need more than a single cup of coffee.
The beauty of the 12-Cup Programmable Coffee & Tea Maker is that it actually doubles as a tea maker, so if you prefer tea or simply enjoy both coffee and tea, this really a good option especially if you have a small kitchen. The very sleek and modern design features an LED screen to display the time….Once you are done brewing your coffee the time elapsed since you brewed the coffee will show at the bottom of the scree( LOVE THIS FEATURE). The coffee/ tea maker also features a water-filtration system (a small replaceable carbon filter inside the water tank).
Operating the unit is a breeze and the different steps for the different options are very simple to follow! Once you have your coffee/tea maker all set and ready to go, turn the machine on, you will find the button at the top left…..When on the machine will have a bright blue light on indicating the machine is on.
We love tea in the morning and my mom usually makes a couple of loose leaves tea cups in the morning for DH…..Which she usually boils on a pan on the stove……But with the tea maker the whole process is a lot easier and cleaner, because you do not even have to worry about the leaves getting in your cup! I tell you this is one handy and versatile appliance.
Another feature that is on top of my list of favorites, is the Elapsed timer with 1 to 2 hour auto shutoff ……I can’t tell you how many times I have left home trying to figure out if I’ve turned my coffee maker off…Sounds familiar?
I have to say I am very impressed with the design, performance and certainly with the looks because while this unit can be purchased at selected Wal-Mart locations and Walmart.com for $59.88. (They will also be available in all Wal-Mart stores in November this year). It looks amazing and performs even better!
