Born 2 Impress Tech Event- GreatCall Emergency Responder Review and Giveaway.

Ever since I went back to work and find myself driving back and forth, sometimes at night time I have been interested in emergency response devices….Why? Because 90 % of the times I try to call DH, his phone goes to voice mail….And if he is sleeping, forget it!

A few weeks ago I was offered the opportunity to try the 5-Star Urgent Response from GreatCall. What is the 5-Star Urgent Response device? It is a small device that can be attached to your key chain….Yes, it is that small and light weight (about the size of your car’s remote).

The very first thing you need to do after you receive your device is to charge it and set up your profile. The site is very user friendly and the profile is very easy to set up (just click on the my GreatCall tab on their site). The GreatCall site guides you step by step and you can save and edit your information at any time. When setting up your profile, you will be able to add frequent locations for easy tracking of where you are. You can also add emergency contacts as well as add any medications you are on ( this can be life saving for people with certain allergies and conditions). You can actually add the medication name, the dosage, frequency, and the instructions leaving no guess work to the paramedics or person assisting you.

You can also add your physician’s name, what kind of doctor he is, the doctor’s address, his email, and phone number as well, the same information can be entered for your primary hospital. Also on your profile, you can add your vehicle (s), and as I mentioned, you can update this information at any time.

I have to admit, I wasn’t sure how the device worked before I got it….It was hard to believe that all I needed to do was to press the big black button located in the middle of the responder to get connected to an operator…Then what would they do? Call me to my phone, what if my phone was out of battery or not working? Actually the Responder has a powerful external speaker, allowing you to hear the 5-Star Agent, the 9-1-1 operator, others conferenced in by 5-Star and other voice and tone prompts easily…..The operator connects to the device with a crystal clear connection and yes, you talk through your device, not a cell phone! The operator identifies herself with her name and operator number and I must say she was very friendly. After she identifies herself, she asked me for my name which I gave her and then I proceeded to let her know that I was doing a test call to try the service. Needless to say I was very impressed with the product and the service. This reminds me like something from Star-Trek, just a simple little thing on your keychain that is like instant access and speakerphone to an emergency responder.

There are some facts you need to know about the product and I have to say that I am planning to talk with my in laws and any older couples I know about this amazing product as I could not be happier with it.
