Lugz the brand Built for the Street has always been an innovator and leader in urban footwear. Lugz first made a name for itself in October of 1993, when it brought its first line of boots to market. Soon Lugz was endorsed by key players from the world of hip hop and has continued to do so throughout the years by creating trendsetting styles beyond boots, adding casual shoes and athletics to the mix.

 In the fall of 2008 Lugz shot on to the Mixed Martial Arts scene signing its first two MMA fighters, Lyoto Machida and Houston Alexander as endorsers. Machida captured the title of UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as he represented Lugz. Shortly after, Lugz signed Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. In 2010 Cain Velasquez became the newest endorser of Lugz; immediately after signing, Cain fought to become UFC World Heavyweight Champion. In 2011, Lugz continued to grow its Team – signing UFC Welterweight Josh Koscheck and UFC Light Heavyweight Phil Davis.

 I was given the opportunity to review one of their boots and since my brother is a civil engineer and is always on the field I decided to go with the Classic Drifter work boot. The Drifter boots are made of nubuck leather and can be worn for winter, work or Casual Street wears for as part of your everyday attire.

The boots are really well made and feature high quality materials and craftsmanship. The Drifter features a casual and durable above-the-ankle boot design with a cushioned foot and padded collar. It also has a thick protective rubber sole that makes these boots a great mix between fashion and functionality.

While you may need to break the boots in a little to get to the comfort level you are looking for, the drifter is mainly meant for working environments and to help protect your feet while working. So, you might find them a little hard when you first wear them, but that is something that changes by wearing the boots and for what my brother reports is that they are actually very comfortable and a lot more trendy than the old boots he used to wear.

The drifter which has a military style design is made with durable Lug rubber outsole (the design on the rubber helps to prevent slipping), cushioned insole, and padded tongue and collar, for added comfort. The Drifter comes in two different colors and it is also offered in another design which is a bit taller…..They also have the women’s version of these boots and I have to say they look really nice.

One other thing about the Lugz shoes is that their prices are lower than other work boots but the quality and design can compete with other brands that are sold with a higher price point. With the Drifter boots, you get the looks, style and quality without breaking your bank account! The boots can be worn all year around, so that is certainly an added bonus to the boots features. The Classic Drifter boots from Lugz have a retail price of 81.99 and are available at the Lugz online store.
