Born 2 Impress Everything Home Event D- Link DCS- 932L Network Camera and MovieNite Streaming Device Review

D-Link is an award-winning designer, developer and manufacturer of networking, broadband, digital electronics, voice, data and video communications solutions for the digital home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO), Small to Medium Business (SMB), and Workgroup to Enterprise environments.

Innovative products are always on top of my list and I am always interested in the new products in the market. From movie and music products are as interesting to me as Home Network cameras and D- Link has both products in their catalog, including the D-Link remote viewing day and night surveillance camera.

The DCS- 932L is a white, compact and light weight design camera that is extremely easy to install…All you will need to do is to run and install the software that comes with your camera and follow the easy steps that you will find with your package. You have option to run your camera through a cable or wirelessly. The mydlink-enabled Wireless N Day/Night Home Network Camera as you can guess by its name features a night and day vision camera that can be accessed from your PC, Laptop, or tablet.

The camera works with the mydlink iPhone or Android app for on the go viewing so you can monitor your camera even when you are not home. You will need to create an account with D-Link (also very easy to do). The image quality is really good and it also has a very decent sound quality.

While you cannot pan  or tilt the camera remotely, it does allow you to zoom in and zoom out for a better view of the object you are focusing on. One feature I really like about the DCS- 932L camera from D-Link, is that it can be accessed by different users on different computers/tablets at the same time and when using the application ( I have the D-Link lite that is a free app), I can take snap shots of the view on the camera and it goes directly to the photo folder in my iPad…This is great if you need to take a photo of something that is going on in your home while you are away (like your child getting into something that they later try to deny).

Another feature that is a big seller for me, is that the camera is actually Perfect for 24 hour monitoring, because of the built-in infrared LEDs that allows viewing in little or no light….This is a nice feature even for parents that want to keep an eye on their little ones at all times and of course to have a vigilant eye at home when you are on the go! The DCS- 932L camera from D-Link has a retail price of 129.99 and it is on sale right now for 99.99.

Along with the DCS- 932L camera from D-Link I was given the opportunity to review their MovieNite streaming device. MovieNite™ provides the user with full HD video streaming of the newest HD movies, TV shows and more.

The MovieNite device is a compact unit that is very easy to set up and use. MovieNite delivers instant access to unlimited entertainment choices from VUDU, Netflix, Picasa, Pandora and YouTube right on your TV. As I said, the setup of the MovieNite (DSM-310) is really easy and can be completed in 3 easy steps: just plug MovieNite into your TV and power outlet, and then use the simple onscreen menus to select your content.

You can connect to your TV via traditional RCA cables or HDMI high def. But please note if you are going use an HDMI setup, you need a HDMI cable that is not included in your package, so keep this in mind when setting up. After the device is set up, you will have to set your internet connection, but I was able to go to the process without any problems.

You can use wireless or wired for network connectivity, but if you connect your device using an Ethernet cable you will have to provide your own network cable as one is not included in your unit. The unit comes with a small remote control that is powered by 2 AAA batteries that are included with your unit.

One thing I really like is that the remote has designated buttons for VUDU, Netflix, Pandora and YouTube, so you can go to any of them directly without the need to scroll down through the menu (like other similar devices). Another really nice feature on the MovieNite is that you can access your MyDlink account and can view your camera on your TV Screen (very cool feature).

Your MovieNite unit comes with one movie credit from VUDU (Movies On-Demand – Where you can access a vast library of movies and TV titles from all Hollywood studios and leading independent distributors directly from your HDTV). You will need to set up a VUDU account to use your credit, but it is also an easy process. MovieNite™ also offers a remote app available for iPhone® and Android so you have access on the go. The retail price for the MovieNite DSM-310 device is just 79.99.
