KICKER Performance Audio products are designed and manufactured by Stillwater Designs, headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The firm began in 1973 as a two-person operation, hand-building professional sound and musical instrument speaker systems for churches, auditoriums, and entertainers. Building upon the success of the Original KICKER, the company concentrated on the mobile-audio market, applying the same successful research and design skills to the development of a complete line of high-performance components for car audio.
I found their store about a year ago while doing a search for headphones and was really interested in the KICKER products, I contacted the company and they agreed to work with me on a review of a couple of their products, so they sent me the TJ Lavin Series DJ Style Headphones. The headphones, the HP541TJ Headphones feature Microphone boast tonal accuracy and bass response and they have full-range audio….The sound quality is unbeatable.
I also had the chance to try the iKICK350 iPhone/iPod Dock. The compact dock station is very sturdy and easy to carry around. The ik350 features a powerful amplifier with Digital Sound Processing. I have to say I was very impressed with the sound quality and how loud this small dock station can get….Perfect for our summer family escapades to the pool. The iKICK350 fits all iPhones and 4th-generation or newer dockable iPods.
In this opportunity I am very happy to bring you three more products from KICKER! I am very happy to bring you the 2012 Best Speaker Dock winner, according to readers, the Kicker iKICK501.
The futuristic and sharp design speaker dock features a built-in subwoofer, a remote control that can navigate the menus and screens of an iPhone or iPod connected to it….I know, really neat! AUX and RCA inputs for additional components, and a composite video output that allows the consumer to play videos from an iPod™ or iPhone docked on the unit to larger screens such as your TV or computer monitor. I must say the iKICK501exceeded all my expectations.
The sound quality is truly amazing and the bass is outstanding on this unit. In addition to these features it comes with a pair of five-inch woofers and silk-dome tweeters. The iKICK501 has a powerful internal amplifier with digital signal processing that makes this unit a really powerful sound machine.
The compact infrared remote that comes with the unit allows the user to navigate with ease through the iKICK501 system menu, adjusting bass, treble, and even aux-in options. You can also go through the iPod or iPhone's menus and sub-menus. You have full control of whether to skip forward and back, fast-forward and back, play and pause, volume, mute, and power on/off selections have their own buttons also.
The unit also features a rotary knob that woks as the power and selection push button, and controller for bass, treble, auxiliary-input options, or standby mode. Standby will continue to charge the iPod or iPhone even when the system is powered down. In the dark, the knob is back-lit in blue and the display LCD screen continues to guide the user easily through the menu.
The iKICK501 is very user friendly and you will find that you do not have to be electronics savvy to operate the unit. In addition, a mini jack input that is included with the unit allows a hookup for stereo sound from alternate media, including other MP3 or compact-disc players, desktop and laptop computers, or satellite radio…. I am able to play my library list directly from my laptop or even my iPod mini with amazing results!
Switching to the Aux –In is as easy as plugging in the cable and change the rotary knob to the correct position. RCA stereo outputs allow for even more alternative audio hookup (cables not included). A two-foot auxiliary cable, integrated carrying handle, AC power cord and 22-volt power supply are part of this must have Docking System. The retail prize for the iKICK501 is 279.95.
The second product I reviewed was the CUSH Urban-Style Headphones. The Cush is the newest premium headphones that were recently released by the brand. The all-white and silver design offers the perfect combination between sound quality, comfort and style….The design stands out not only for its look, but for the extreme comfort provided by these headphones….The Cush has a very soft feel to the touch and the ultra-lightweight design and thick over-the-ear cushions, Cush Headphones gives a really comfortable fit.
Thanks to its 54-millimeter speakers and a max output of 118 decibels the headphones deliver a great bass performance. The extra-long Kevlar®-reinforced, flat cable provides the listener with freedom of movement. The 1/8-inch, corrosion-resistant plug connects into any iPod®, iPhone®, MP3 player or KICKER Docking System. The Cush is also available in black and has a retail price of 79.95.
PHENOM MicroFit In-Ear Monitors was the third and last product I received and it is possibly my favorite headphones ever. I have been trying for a while now to find headphones that fit properly and do not fall out of my ears while exercising.
The PHENOM features a black braided cloth cable that is virtually indestructible and that is unlike anything I have seen before. The PHENOM is super lightweight and has aluminum housings that are 33 percent smaller than standard monitors that allows a great fit and I must say these are the best fitted headphones I have come across to.
My favorite feature on these headphones beside the sound quality is for sure the tiny ear pieces that offer the best comfort and fit I have been able to experience from a pair of headphones of this style.
The noise isolation is also outstanding on these headphones. The PHENOM providing four sizes of soft silicone tips for proper fit….For me the smallest of them are just perfect for me…I am able to do a complete exercise routine without having to stop the thread mill to adjust my headphones! The PHENOM has a retail price of 34.95
